Ofwat publishes draft price determinations. Ofwat has today published the draft PR14 price controls for water and sewerage companies in England and Wales. Within the determinations, the regulator has decided to allow Yorkshire Water’s claim for input price pressure in its retail business, having previously taken the position that it would not allow for retail inflationary pressure. Economic Insight advised Yorkshire on this, and it was our efficiency benchmarking and cost forecasting analysis that provided the basis for Ofwat to conclude that Yorkshire’s evidence was “sufficient and convincing”. The adjustment is worth £18.7m to Yorkshire over PR14. Economic Insight has advised a number of companies during the price control process, including Thames and Southern Water.
