Today, the Competition Appeals Tribunal (CAT) handed down its first judgment under the new Consumer Rights Act 2015 fast-track rules. The CAT has ruled in favour of Socrates Training Limited (Socrates) that The Law Society abused its dominant position in the market for the provision of quality certifications and accreditations services to conveyancing firms in the UK. Sam Williams, a Director of Economic Insight, appeared before the Tribunal as an expert witness for Socrates. The Tribunal commended the clarity of both his written report and the joint statement of issues of agreement and disagreement.
