01.11.2017 – Social Tariffs Strategy

A major utility company has hired Economic Insight to provide strategy advice relating to its use of social tariffs.  Our work involves using statistical analysis to understand geographic variance in social tariff adoption rates, using this to forecast future take-up and the associated commercial implications of this.

Economic Insight sponsors Utility Week Congress 2017.  Today, our Director, Sam Williams, addressed the conference on the challenges of regulatory approaches to outcomes and customer engagement. The conference gathers industry stakeholders and experts who discuss the key developments in the utilities sector and is being held in Birmingham on 11 and 12 October 2017.

The Global Competition Review (GCR) has published James Harvey’s overview on key competition economics issues in the UK.  This includes an overview on behavioural trials recommended by the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and considerations on interest claims in litigation. 25.09.2017 – Three Report

Ofcom has published a report by Economic Insight on the consumer welfare effects of potential reforms to the mobile switching process in the UK.  The report, commissioned by Three Mobile, shows that total consumer welfare could be harmed if, under proposed reforms, losing providers can contact customers with ‘reactive save’ offers.  Instead, our work suggests…
