Hywel Cleverdon

Hywel is a Principal at Economic Insight, specialising in matters of competition policy; economic regulation; and public policy (including with a particular focus on media industries).  He builds close working relationships with clients, to ensure he delivers carefully designed analysis that is tailored to their needs.

Hywel has led a range of work across our regulation, competition and policy areas since joining the firm in 2024.  This includes leading project teams on major competition litigation cases; and in advising energy and water clients through their respective price controls (the latter including a focus on equity risk and returns analysis). 

Prior to joining us, Hywel was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, where he led projects related to the climate transition across Europe and North America in the energy and materials sectors.  He previously completed an internship at the Bank of England.
