Alasdair has over five years of experience providing expert consultancy services to clients across a range of sectors. At Economic Insight he has focussed on cost assessment analysis in the water and energy sectors, and on competition policy issues such as mergers and litigation.

Alasdair was closely involved in the PR19 water sector price control for several companies – including the CMA appeal for Yorkshire Water – and advised Northern Ireland Water on cost assessment at its 2021 price control. Other notable projects include Royal Mail and BT’s claim for damages in the trucks cartel case, helping SP Energy Networks develop aspects of its business plan, and supporting National Air Traffic Services through a regulatory appeal process.

In addition to his work as an economist, Alasdair has also worked as a consultant in social research. This involved conducting primary research and combining quantitative and qualitative methods to answer clients’ questions and evaluate the impact of policies.
